The association is the largest high-tech network in Saxony and one of the largest microelectronics and IT clusters in Germany. The term "Silicon Saxony" refers to Europe's largest microelectronics / ICT location around Dresden in Saxony. Besides Silicon Saxony is the fifth largest microelectronics / ICT location worldwide, as every third chip produced in Europe bears the imprint "Made in Saxony" according to Silicon Saxony e.V..
